The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for winter storm “Jonas” that will affect travel from Washington DC to Boston.
The bulk of the storm is expected to hit Friday continuing through Saturday evening both heavy snow and winds are expected. Travel is expected to be severely limited if not impossible during the height of the storm Friday night and Saturday. Road conditions will be slippery and hazardous and cause dangerous conditions.
What is JTB doing?
JTB agents are contacting all travelers who will be expecting to travel this weekend. Travelers will be asked if they are open to reschedule their itineraries. Airlines have already provided “waivers” which give travelers the ability to change their travels without incurring the airline change fee.
JTB’s Recommendation:
Our recommendation is that if travel can be avoided from Friday through Monday, it should be. The lingering effects of storms can go on for days causing disruption of flights even after the storm has passed. Travelers who can re-book their travels, should contact their JTB agent immediately.
JTB Assistance:
As we expect our after-hours service to be extremely busy, JTB agents will be available over the weekend to assist. Please call JTB at 800-568-5824 based on the following schedule –
Friday 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM Eastern
Saturday 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM Eastern
Sunday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM Eastern
For assistance outside of the above hours please call 800-822-4397 and refer to the VIT code listed on your travel itinerary.
Stay warm and safe travels!
